HUMPHREY - The Wynot track teams will be sending two athletes to the Nebraska Track and Field Championships later this week at Burke Stadium in Omaha May 21-24.
The Class D portion of the meet will be competed on May 23 and 24. One Blue Devil and one Lady Blue Devil continued their season by qualifying for state.
Lane Heimes won the high jump at the district meet by clearing the bar at 6-feet-2-inches to bring a gold medal back to Wynot.
Braylon Hans also grabbed a medal with a 19-foot effort in the long jump which was good enough for fifth.
The 4x800 team of Jace Lange, Kreyton Koch, Trey Gowery and Bentley Guenther placed fourth in the event with a time of 11:00.82.
The Lady Blue Devil heading to Omaha will be Eliza Lange, who used a time of 2-minutes-31.76-seconds to grab her ticket by placing second in the 800. Addison Sharpe placed sixth.
Hartington-Newcastle won the boys’ title in the D-3 meet while Wausa took the girls’ championship.
