RANDOLPH — The Randolph Cardette track team was named C-4 champions following their winning of the district track meet at Plainview on Thursday with 14 teams competing. Seven Cardettes qualifying for the state track meet at North Platte were Alice Wattier, Robin Berner, Becky Boling, Shelly Strathman, Shelley Lackas, Marci Wattier and Inga Brodersen.

RANDOLPH — New inductees into the National Honor Society at Randolph High School are Jeff Winkelbauer, Mark Koehler, Debbie Koehler, Janice Berner, Shelly Strathman and Corinne Helsing.

RANDOLPH — Lyle Nannen, a member of the Randolph High School faculty, won the NENAC Faculty Golf Tournament at Plainview on Saturday. Nannen and Mark Meyer of O’Neill tied with scores of 77 at the end of regulation play but the Randolph golfer won the playoff.

RANDOLPH — Thirty RHS graduates will take part in a cap and gown ceremony to receive diplomas on May 20. Arthur Bermel will serve as valedictorian and Jill Rasmussen, salutatorian.

RANDOLPH — Two Randolph graduates were awarded degrees at UNL Commencement exercises on May 12.
Greg Lackas was awarded a Master of Science degree from the UNL graduate college. Joe Thelen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

RANDOLPH — Tom Biernbaum received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Diesel Technology at Commencement exercises on May 12 at Northeast Community College.

RANDOLPH — Graduation ceremonies for the Randolph High School Class of 2000 are scheduled for May 21, at the high school gym.
The class valedictorian address will be given by Anthony Dowling, while the class history will be presented by salutatorian Jennifer Arens.

RANDOLPH — A new service will be available to area residents this week. A paper collection site, “A & B Recycling”, located at the south entrance of 223 E. Broadway Street in Randolph, will serve as a drop-off service for newsprint, magazines and office paper.
Operated by Allen and Barb Burbach, the service will serve the community’s needs to recycle paper products in order to dispose of these recyclable items and preserve the environment.
There has not been an opportunity for recycling since the closing of the city operation in March.

RANDOLPH — A brief meeting was conducted by the Randolph City Council Monday morning to appoint a new representative for the city’s North Ward.
A total of three candidates applied for the vacancy that was created earlier this month due to the resignation of Tim Kint who has moved from the North Ward.
The Council named Don Starzl to finish out Kint’s term through Dec. 1, 2001.
In the general election, Kevin Tunink and Darrin Nordhues will vie for the other North Ward seat.

RANDOLPH – The Randolph High School Class of 2010 will be receiving their diplomas and scholastic honors during graduation ceremonies Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at the Randolph High School. Twenty-eight students will be receiving their diplomas in the ceremony.
Matthew Graham is the valedictorian of the Class of 2010. He is the son of Dallas and Rebecca Graham of Randolph.
Jacob Backer will be the class salutatorian. He is the son of Don and Jackie Backer of Randolph.
The class has chosen the motto, “To Infinity and Beyond.” Class colors are red and white, and the class flower is the Gerber Daisy.

HARTINGTON — Cedar County will have at least one new Commissioner next year. Frederick Pinkelman, who has represented the North District since 1998, is not seeking another term in office. Two Democratic candidates are seeking to replace him in the north district.
