Cardinal golf team hosts invitational

RANDOLPH - A beautiful day greeted the participants here at the Randolph Country Club May 12 for the Randolph Invitational.

When the sun set on the event, Creighton was crowned the team champion after carding a 312 with Bloomfield and Wausa tied for a distant second at 341.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge finished fourth one stroke back at 342 and Pierce rounded out the top five, with a 343.

The Cardinals posted a 360 over 18 holes.

Calvin Wilmes of Creighton fired thelowroundofthetournamentwith a 68. His teammate, Teegan Burns, was a distant second, carding a 76.

Crofton’s Grant Schieffer was third after a scorecard playoff also at 76 and Bloomfield’s Cody Smith was fourth at 79.

Shaw Backer was the top finisher for the Red Birds after carding an 81.

Ryan Engel finished with a 90, Logan Lienemann posted a 93, Tate Brodersen shot a 96 and Bentley Reimers fished off a 107.

Randolph will play in the Ponca InvitationalMay14atHighlandOaks Golf Course before heading to the D-2 District Tournament at Club 91 near Leigh on May 19.
