RANDOLPH — A city ordinance banning a Randolph City Council member to hold a seat on the city council by moving into another city ward prompted Tim Kint to resign from his seat representing the city’s North Ward.

Kint said Monday that resigning his post, which expires Dec. 1, 2001, was necessary due to completion of a new residence in south Randolph – part of the Randolph South Ward.

Kint, who has served on the council for about 11 years now, said that he will seek to continue to serve on the council by running for the South Ward seat against incumbent councilman Neil Kluver in this November’s general election.

All three men competing for the District 18 Senate seat have been crisscrossing Cedar, Dixon, Pierce and Stanton counties for the past several weeks shaking hands, answering questions and looking for votes.

Sen. Bob Dickey, Laurel, Doug Cunningham, Wausa and Chuck Meyer, Stanton, all addressed Stanton voters Monday in a candidate forum similar to the one held in Hartington April 18.

The Hartington forum drew more than 100 people and candidates from across the state.
