LAUREL — District III Music Contest was hosted by Laurel-ConcordColeridge Friday.
Twelve schools brought 520 music students to Laurel to perform for nine judges throughout the day.
The LCC band results are: Excellent Rating: Concert Band; Superior Ratings: Sam Cross alto saxophone solo, Mara Droppers tenor saxophone solo, Christian Staples trumpet solo, and Derek Nelson snare drum solo. Derek Nelson not only received a superior rating but also a perfect score. Superior ratings also went to the LCC Percussion Ensemble and the LCC Jazz Band.
The Jazz Band received superior scores from all three judges. They also received a superior plaque for their performance. They were the only Jazz Band to receive straight superior ratings.
