LCC golfers compete in Norfolk meet

NORFOLK — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge golf team headed to Fairplay Golf Course April 26 for the Lutheran High Northeast Invitational and ended up 10th in the 20-team tournament after shooting a 390 over 18 holes.

Talon Carson shot the low round for the Bears, coming in with a 93 which put him in 27th place.

Norfolk Catholic won the team title with a 336, Creighton was six strokes back at 342 for second.

The Norfolk High junior varsity was third with a 359, Summerland was fourth at 366 and Pierce rounded out the top five with a team-total of 373.

Cole Lawless from the host school won the individual title after carding a 77, Creighton’s Calvin Wilmes was the runner-up with a 79 and Will Brockhaus of Norfolk Catholic was third with an 81.

Gibson Roberts and Tanner Thompson were next for LCC after each posted a 98, Cade Johnson shot a 101 and Paxton Hoeppner fired a 103.

The Bears were scheduled to head north to Hartington for the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational on April 29 before going to Highland Oaks Golf Course just outside of Ponca on May 1.

LCC will travel to Pierce for the always tough Pierce Invitational on May 3 then complete a busy week in the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Tournament at the Summerland Golf Course on May 6.
