O’NEILL - The Cedar Catholic golf team traveled to O’Neill April 23 for the O’Neill Invitational and came away with a fifth-place showing out west.
O’Neill won the team title after shooting a 316, Ord was second at 344, West Holt was third one stroke back, North Central was fourth at 354 followed by the Trojans at 357.
“We were disappointed in the team effort at the meet,” said Cedar Catholic golf coach, Rick Kuehn. “The kids know they can shoot better.”
Logan Brabec of O’Neill sot the low round of the day with a 73 with four golfers in second through fifth at 79.
Toby Heine and Maverick Heine finished seventh and eighth for the Trojans with scores of 82 and 83 respectively.
Memphis Ulrich was next with a 92, Langston Christensen posted a 100 and Landyn Kaiser came in with a 104.
Kuehn took a mix of younger players to the Osmond Invitational at Rolling Hills Golf Course on April 26.
Toby Heine made the most of his day at Rolling Hills, firing a 79 and winning a playoff with Landon Uthof of Ponca for medalist honors.
Teammate, Memphis Ulrich was two shots back which put him in fourth place.
Hudson Dendinger, Dawson Dresden and Dayne Rolfes posted scores of 97, 104 and 107 respectively to round out the Trojan scores.
Ponca won the meet with a 338, followed by Wausa with 345, Stuart with 353, Bloomfield 354 and Cedar Catholic JV at 361.
“We can all shoot lower scores,” said Kuehn. “We just haven’t put it together in a meet. We will get there.”
The Trojans played in the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational April 29 before heading to Tatonka Golf Course on April 30 for the Niobrara/Verdigre Invite. They will head to Pierce for another invitational on May 3 before a date at Highland Oaks Golf Course north of Ponca for the Mid-State Golf Tournament on May 6.
