Wildcat track athletes compete at Pierce invitational

PIERCE - Pierce was the site for the Tom Martin Memorial Track and Field Invitational hosted by Wausa on April 24.

The Wildcats placed seventh in the team standings while the Lady Wildcats ended up eighth in their respective divisions of the meet.

Pierce won both team titles with the Bluejays outlasting Cedar Catholic 90 to 88 and the Lady Bluejays running away from Norfolk Catholic, 116 to 69.

The Wildcats posted 28 points and the Lady ‘Cats put up 24.

Carmen Buschkamp and Vayda Lippert paced the Lady Wildcats.

Buschkamp was second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13-minutes 17.69-seconds and also placed sixth in the 1,600.

Lippert was third in the high jump with a best of 4-feet-6-inches and placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:06.18.

She then joined Ella Eickhoff, Maddie Steffen and Hazel Hochstein to place fifth in the 1,600 relay.

Abi Rice placed fourth in the 100-meters with a time of 13.66 seconds and Ella Eickhoff was sixth in the 300 hurdles.

Cole Rosener and Mason Krause were the key ingredients for the Wildcats.

Krause was second in the triple jump, hop, stepping and jumping into the sand after 41-feet-1.5-inches and placing fourth in the long jump with best of 19’ 6.25”.

Rosener was right in front of Krause in the long jump with his best jump of 19’ 9.5” for third and he also placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:09.28.

The HNS 3,200-meter relay squad of Dane Gotch, Brayden Lammers, Gabriel Reyes and Aidan Anderson covered the distance in 10:05.36 which placed them fifth.

Both teams were scheduled to travel to Ponca for an invitational on April 29 with the Norfolk Classic slated for May 1.

Hartington-Newcastle will head to Atkinson for the Greater Northeast Activities

Conference Meet on May 3.
