Former Coleridge teacher dies in two-vehicle crash

HARTINGTON — A Coleridge man died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday near Laurel.

Reports from the Cedar County Sheri's O$ce indicate deputies were called to a two vehicle crash on Highway 59 at the intersection of Highway 15 near Laurel just before 9 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say Charles Potosnyak, 70, Coleridge, was making a left turn onto Highway 59 and failed to yield to oncoming tra$c.

His Buick was struck by an oncoming semi.

Potosnyak, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not wearing at seatbelt at the time of the accident.

He was a teacher at Laurel Concord Coleridge Public School from 1983 to 2012. He taught third through sixth grade and the Alternative Education Credit Recovery Program.
