Fordyce blood drive nets 16 units of blood

FORDYCE — The Fordyce community blood drive was a great success.

Dedicated donors and volunteers came together to provide lifesaving blood donations to approximately 48 people in need.

The event saw an incredible turnout, with 13 donors stepping up to donate 16 units blood.

Al Steffen hit a milestone donation of 17 gallons. The weight requirement for donors has been lowered to 110 lbs. and the 180-day deferral for young female donors has been removed. This means more donors can step up and donate blood.

Duane Schieffer helped to coordinate this event that was hosted at the Fordyce Fire Hall.

The next Fordyce community blood drive is 3:30-6 p.m., May 29, at the Fordyce Fire Hall.
