HARTINGTON—It will become more difficult to build a home in the county if proposed Cedar County zoning regulations are approved.
The current proposal mandates landowners must have anywhere from 3-80 acres of land in order to build a residence in the county.
Acreage limits are mandated in a new zoning map approved by the Planning and Zoning Board.
The proposed zoning regulations, which comprise 50 pages, will be discussed at a public forum April 10 in the Courthouse.

HARTINGTON— Paul Pocwierz grew up around law enforcement.
The newly-hired Cedar County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy, watched his father work in law enforcement for years before eventually following his footsteps.
Pocwierz, who started working here in January, said his Dad is now the Platte County Jail Administrator and previously worked for the Madison County Jail.

LINCOLN — Hartington’s FFA program was named as the top FFA Chapter in the state.
The National Chapter Award program is designed to award FFA chapters who actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization, said Hartington FFA advisor Fritz Steinhoff.

HARTINGTON — The actors and stage crew made it look easy, but a lot of work went into last week’s Cedar County Theatre production.
“The Great Easter Egg Hunt,” was performed April 1-2 at the Hartington City Auditorium.

LINCOLN — A pair of Cedar Catholic athletes set new track standards at the Laurel-Concord Relays Thursday.
Amanda Kathol broke her old meet record in the long jump. Her jump of 17’2” set the standard.
The Cedar girls took runnerup honors, despite missing some athletes because of the state FFA Convention.
