Wynot races to big win against Randolph

RANDOLPH — The Wynot Blue Devils picked up their 10th win of the season, defeating Randolph Tuesday 65-40.

The Blue Devils used a big first half to build a lead as dominated for three quarters of play.

The Blue Devils used a balanced attack with 10 players getting in on the scoring. Kotner Koch and Nixon Heimes led the team with 12 and 10 points respectively while Kasen Koch just missed double figures with nine points and eight rebounds.

Randolph was led by Logan Lienemann with 10 points and Ryan Engel helped the Cards’ cause with nine points while Adrian Samano worked the paint area for seven points.

In the first quarter both teams found scoring opportunities. Randolph got five points from Logan Lienemann and four points each from Ryan Engel and Luke Harder. Wynot countered with seven points by Kasen Koch, six points from Kotner Koch and four points from Andrew Haberman as the Blue Devils earned an early 19-13 advantage.

Wynot’s defense showed up in the second frame as the Cards were only able to get a field goal each from Logan Lienemann and Adrian Samano. Wynot went on a 19-5 scoring run, led by Killian Steinhaus’s nine points and three points each from Lane Heimes and Kasen Koch as they led 38-18 at halftime.

Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the third quarter. Wynot got a three-pointer by Kotner Koch and some freethrows. Randolph got a threepointer byLukeHarderandsomefreethrowsasWynot kept the margin at 43-21 going into the final quarter.

Both teams were able to find the basket again in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals got seven points from Luke Harder, a three-pointer by Logan Lienemann and a basket each from Dayton Winkelbauer and Adrian Samaro. Wynot went to the long ball getting a pair of threes by Nixon Heimes and one each from Cash Lenzen, Carter Hans and Lane Heimes as the Devils finished on a 22-16 run.
