WINNEBAGO — It took an overtime period for the Wynot Lady Blue Devils to defeat the Winnebago Lady Indians on Friday night in Winnebago.
Wynot would trail by 4 points at halftime but rallied in the second half to tie the score at the end of regulation and send the game into overtime. Wynot would outscore the Lady Indians 7-5 in the extra period to earn the close win by the final of 48-46.
Kenna Oligmueller had a monster game for the gals in blue as she finished with 26 points. Addison Sharpe continues to find the range from long distance hitting 4 three pointers ending with 14 points to help the Lady Blue Devils offense.
Winnebago got balanced scoring lead by J. Blackbird with 12 points and D. Harlah and H. Lovejoy each netting 11 points for the home team.
The Blue Devils started out cold getting only a three pointer each from Oligmueller and Sharpe in the opening quarter. Winnebago ‘s J. Blackbird and H. Lovejoy each hit a pair of buckets to give the Indians the 11-7 first quarter lead.
Kenna Oligmueller provided most of the offense for Wynot in the second quarter, hitting a pair of baskets in the paint and six of seven free throws for the Lady Blue Devils. Winnebago got five points from Blackbird and a pair of basket from Lovejoy to maintain the 19-23 halftime advantage.
Wynot would rally back in the third quarter thanks to a trio of three-pointers by Addison Sharpe and four more points by Oligmueller. Wynot defense showed up as well, holding the Lady Indians to only six points as Wynot built a 3229 lead going into the final quarter. B. Treglia hit a three-pointer and D. Harlah hit a trio of charity tosses for Winnebago.
In the final quarter, Winnebago would rally as H. Lovejoy connected for seven points and D. Harlah drained a three-pointer for the Indians.
Wynot was held to only one fieldgoal by Jordan Foxhoven, but hit seven of 10 free throws in final minutes to tie the score and send the game into ovetime tied at 41-41.
In the OT, Kenna Oligmueller worked the boards for fivepoints and Addison Sharpe hit a jumper for the Lady Blue Devils. Winnebago got a basket each from J. Blackbird and C. Wolfleader but came up just short as Wynot escaped with the 48-46 win.
