Wynot girls get back on winning track

WAUSA — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils picked up a Lewis and Clark Conference win on Friday night as they earned a 60-38 decision over the Wausa Lady Vikings. The Lady Blue Devils built a big halftime lead powered by the steady play of Kenna Oligmueller and Addison Sharpe who each burned the nets for 20 points.

Wausa got a boost from Taylor Dawson who had a solid second half to take scoring honors for the game with her 21 points.

Wausa would get 4 points from Olivia Barta and a bucket by Taylor Dawson in the opening quarter. Wynot countered with 6 points from Kenna Oligmueller and a trey each from Jaylin Giesen and Addison Sharpe as they raced to an early 18-6 lead.

In the second quarter the Lady Vikings would get a three pointer and a pair of charity tosses from Taylor Dawson. Wynot was rolling however as 7 more points from Oligmueller and 2 more baskets from long distance by Sharpe pushed the Blue Devils lead to 38-13 at halftime.

Taylor Dawson continued to find success for Wausa in the third quarter hitting for seven more points for the home team. The Lady Blue Devils would keep the pressure on as Addison hit for a trio of three pointers giving her 6 total for the game. Kenna Oligmueller worked the paint for 5 more points as Wynot extended their lead to 54-23 going into the final quarter of play.

In the final period Wynot got a basket each from Haley Wieseler, Taylor Pinkelman and Kiera Heimes. Wausa would rally with a three pointer by Kenley Anderson and 8 for 12 shooting from the free throw line as a team but this game had been decided earlier as the Lady Blue Devils earned the 60-38 win.

Wynot will next see action in the West Point-Beemer Tournament after Christmas. Wausa will play in the Creighton Holiday Tournament.
