1969: Local businessmen choose Becker to guide Chamber

Hartington—Fifteen lucky families of the area will receive free frozen turkeys to make their holiday season more enjoyable.

The occasion is Hartington’s annual Turkey Days, on now through Saturday. Nov. 22, sponsored by the Hartington Chamber of Commerce.

To win the turkeys, shoppers may register once at each place of business in Hartington until Saturday.

You must be 18 years of age or over to be eligible to win. A drawing will be held Monday to determine the winners.

Nov. 19, 1969

COLERIDGE—A group of interested people of Coleridge and surrounding area have again decided to sponsor the annual Hobby Show, this fall on Saturday afternoon, Nov.

22 at the Legion Hall.

Last year there were 78 exhibitors with 751 different articles. It is hoped that it will be even bigger this year.

The show is open to everyone.

Nov. 19, 1969

HARTINGTON—Don Becker will head up the Hartington Chamber of Commerce in the coming year, it was decided at the regular monthly dinner meeting. Monday.

Francis Lammers was elected vice president, and Larry Gubbels, secretary. G. A. Stevens will continue as secretary.

The newly elected board of directors consists of Gene Kathol, Ray Bettenhausen and Gene Burbach for a term of three years and Louis Herbolsheimer who was elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Richard Howe.

Arlo Wirth presided at the meeting with 30 members and a guest, Jim Adkisson, present.

Larry Gubbels reported for the Christmas decoration committee and stated there will be new street streamers in the central business district.

Vern Hulce of the business promotion committee reminded the members of the Thanksgiving turkey day promotion this week which will be a kick off for the Christmas season.

Ray Bettenhausen, reporting for the Christmas party committee, stated that the Haley building is being readied for Santa’s headquarters.
