HARTINGTON— Two attractive new entrances to the Hartington City Cemetery are near completion, thanks to the generosity of the late Henry Swan and the hard work of the several individuals.
Mr. Swan who died last year, left $26,000 of his estate to the city for cemetery improvements. Lloyd Pedersen, a member of the Cemetery Board coordinated much of the planning and the work on the project. Lukens Memorials Inc. of Yankton was awarded the contract on the project, which included construction of brick wing walls and gates at the northwest and southwest entrances of the cemetery, Dennis Schieffer of Crofton did the masonry work and Pinkelman manufacturing of Hartington built the metal entrance gates.
