The Council granted a building permit to Kyle and Katrina Kathol for an addition to their house A building permit for Troy Fischer was also granted. He is planning on putting up a building near his house.

Burnell Herbolscheimer was granted a building permit for a patio addition at his house Lance Heine was also granted a building permit. He plans to build a large shed with living quarters inside.

Council members also discussed the possibility of abandoning an alley behind the new Nordby Addition.

The Nordby Addition developers said they did not want to lay claim to the property, so the landowners directly west of the alley could then claim the land.

Three land owners adjacent to that alley were on hand to learn more about the plan. No action was taken, but the issue will be discussed again, City Clerk Brittni Benscoter said.

During department reports Councilman Roman Sudbeck said the Hartington Community Complex is being winterized. Sudbeck also said he had been approached by Cedar Catholic about the possibility of renting out the City Auditorium to be used for basketball practice.

Cedar has a huge roster this year, and will need the extra gym to accomodate everyone, he said.

The next Hartington City Council meeting will be held at 5 p.m., Dec. 9, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

The Council usually only holds one meeting during December and holds a Christmas party in lieu of a second meeting.
