Third-grade elections

Third graders participated in a class mayor/class council election as part of their local government social studies unit. The students learned the roles of mayor and city council members, how elections and voting work, and how to create their own campaign. All 20 students ran for third grade mayor/class council and Randolph Mayor Dwayne “BoBo” Schutt surprised the students to deliver the results of the election and answer questions. Election results were: Mayor, Brielle Backer; and Classroom Council members, Arika Bermel, Logan Sievers, Jaxson Korth and Luis Marquez.
