VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota is No. 15 in this week’s FCS Stats Perform Poll and No. 21 in the AFCA Coaches Poll released Monday morning.

The rankings follow the Coyotes’ 24-19 upset of No. 2 North Dakota State Saturday in Fargo, N.D.

Cedar Catholic graduate Stephen Hillis is a linebacker on the USD team and one of the squad’s leading tacklers.

South Dakota was ranked six consecutive weeks during its playoff run in 2021, reaching as high as No. 15 in late October of that year. The Coyotes have defeated at least one ranked opponent every year dating back to 2013.

The Coyotes (3-1) host Murray State (2-2) for Dakota Days (Homecoming) at 2 p.m. Saturday inside the DakotaDome. Both teams are undefeated against FCS foes.
