2023 NACD poster contest winners announced

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Thank you to all who participated in the 2023 National Association of Conservation District Poster Contest sponsored by Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District.

Three schools, Holy Trinity Elementary, Wynot, and East/West Catholic, participated, with five entries in the Kindergarten through second grade competition level, 20 for the fourth through sixth grade competition level, one for seventh through ninth grade, and one for the new Digital Media Poster Contest.

The students did a great job visually describing the theme “One Water.” The selection criteria for the posters included conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal. The posters were judged by LCNRD staff and directors, and the winning posters were sent to Lincoln to be considered at the state level, which will take place in December. The state contest winner will then move on to Washington D.C. for national judging.

This year’s local NACD Poster Contest winners are kindergartener, Abigail Pinkelman, East/West Elementary; seventh grader, Kiersten Hans, Wynot Public Schools, for print and digital; and fifth grader, Lucy Steffen, Holy Trinity Elementary.

Now is the time to start thinking and spreading the word about next year’s competition. The 2024 Poster Contest theme will be “May the Forest Be with You Always.” More information can be found at https:// www.nacdnet.org/general-resources/stewardshipand- education-materials.
