2009: School Board accepts. Supt. Swisher’s resignation

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Public School Board accepted the resignation Monday of Supt.

Scott Swisher.

Swisher tendered his resignation to accept a new position as the Deputy Commissioner for the Neb. Dept. of Education.

He will begin his new duties July 1 in Lincoln.

The School Board will begin an immediate search for Swisher’s replacement.

In his new position, Swisher will work under the Commissioner fo Education and the state Board of Education. Swisher said the job opening peaked his interest.

“It was an ideal job to apply for,” he said. “The job description described me exactly.”

Swisher has worked at the Hartington Public School since 1991. He has been Superintendent here since 1997.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington School Board voted last week to renovate the school’s 36 year-old gymnasium.

The Hartington School Board decided at a Feb. 1o special meeting to use Prochaska and Associates out of Omaha as the Architects for the gym renovation project at the school.

The Building and Grounds Committee, which includes board members Ron Pearson, Jason Dendinger and Colin Kathol, has been gathering information and working toward getting the project started.
