HARTINGTON — Sandy Kuchta has resigned from the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Board as of Tuesday. It was announced at the County Commissioner’s meeting.

HARTINGTON — About two dozen members of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce spent Monday afternoon and evening touring Hartington. The group visited the library, County Historical Society, and took a walking, guided tour of the rest of the town.

HARTINGTON — Local author Kenny Miller is publishing his third book, “The Rooming House,” which is set in University Place in Lincoln. The book is a sequel to “The Last Flight of Kilo Mike.” This first book was published six months before the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

HARTINGTON — A solid running game and a stifling defense propelled the Hartington Wildcats football team to a 22-6 win over Coleridge Friday.

HARTINGTON — Cedar County Commissioners made a few more decisions Aug. 26 concerning the courthouse addition project.

RaDec Construction President Ed Bottolfsen met with the Commissioners and updated them on the work. A well is already down and workers will begin digging another well which is needed for the heating and cooling system. The commissioners are planning on seeing a huge savings from the new geo-thermal heating and cooling systems which will be installed.

HARTINGTON — Area residents are seeing some unique vehicles on the streets these days because of the high fuel prices.

Because of rising gas prices, at least nine Nebraska communities have approved laws allowing ATVs.

Coleridge recently joined those ranks. You may be seeing golf carts and ATVs (all terrain vehicles) on the streets in the village of Coleridge. Motorized scooters are also more prevalent these days.

YANKTON, S.D. — A TransCanada Corp. official says work should start by mid-October on the Keystone crude oil pipeline’s Missouri River crossing.

TransCanada spokesman Jeff Rauh told the Yankton City Commission Monday the crossing would take six to eight weeks to complete.
