1983: Grindvold scores a double eagle at local course

HARTINGTON — Brian Burbach, Hartington, is in fair condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Norfolk, after falling 20-30 feet while working inside a building at Nucor Steel Aug. 3. He suffered a compound fracture of the lower right leg, a broken elbow, and several compressed vertebrae.

HARTINGTON — The Rural Electrification Association, Washington D.C., has loaned the Hartington Telephone Company $746,000.

The loan will be used to finance facilities to connect 149 additional subscribers, construct eight miles of new line, construct a new warehouse, and finance other improvements including new pole facilities.

HARTINGTON — Hartington Public graduate Nancy Rose was presented a $50 savings bond by the Hartington VFW Post #5283 for playing the bugle these past four years at various events. Post Quartermaster Dick Thoene and Sgt. Of the Guard Pierce Rhode presented her the money.

HARTINGTON — Marvin Grindvold scored a double eagle on the eighth hole at the Hartington Golf Course last week. The last double eagle recorded at the Course was 14 years ago by Dan Leader.

HARTINGTON — Work on several bridges along Hwy. 15 south of Hartington are ahead of schedule, according to project engineer Larry Hausman.

Eight bridges are being replaced along the stretch of highway from Hartington and the weigh station in Laurel.
