Aug. 17, 1988 The best Coleridge Midget team in the history of the local American Legion program came within one game of being state champions.

COLERIDGE — Robert Rabe, a Wisner native, is the new head coach of the Coleridge Bulldog football team.

COLERIDGE — A group of Fred Kalin’s friends and family walked beans for him. Fred suffered a broken leg while playing softball earlier in the summer.

COLERIDGE — The Aid Association for Lutherans, local branch #5428, is sponsoring a benefit softball tournament for the Coleridge Fire Department.

COLERIDGE — The Coleridge senior Citizens raised $129.89 for the Bruce Froendt Paralympic Fund Saturday by serving coffee and rolls at the Senior Citizen Center. As of Tuesday, the amount hit $2,119.72.

COLERIDGE — Mrs. Pat Gleason accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Anderson, Laurel, to the Dixon Alumni Banquet Saturday evening at the Black Knight in Wayne.

COLERIDGE — The Busy Homemakers Club met at the home of Lena Kock last Thursday afternoon. Robinette Holcomb opening the meeting with a reading. Pitch was played at two tables. Lunch was then served by the hostess.

Aug. 18, 1993

COLERIDGE — Twelve students from St. Michael’s Parish and sponsors Dr. Keith and Rhonda Schumacher left last Tuesday afternoon for the World Youth Day in Denver, Colo.

They are Brad Wemhoff, Jenny Wemhoff, Carey Wemhoff, Kathy Wemhoff, Curtis Domina, Lisa Domina, Angie Hochstein, Brandon Fiscus, Tony Dirks, Amanda Myer, Mindy Kramer, and Josh Pinkelman.

COLERIDGE — Arthella Arens made the motion and Robert Schmidt seconded it to approve at the Aug. 10 County Commission meeting to sign a contract for police protection for the village of Wynot by the Cedar County Sheriff’s office.

COLERIDGE — Don Christensen hauled in a 12-pound Walleye beauty while fishing in Pierre, S.D. on Aug. 8. He stated he “was in the right place at the right time.”

COLERIDGE — Kasey Hansen, daughter of Dave and Karla Hansen, received the trophy for Top Demonstration. Hansen got a blue ribbon for her demonstration using pork.

Aug. 13, 2003

COLERIDGE — John Brummels was killed and his wife, Jessica, was seriously injured when their 1992 Ford F-250 pick-up collided with a Ford F-350 driven by Tyler Heimes at the intersection of 878 Road and 567 Avenue.
