HARTINGTON — About 70 golfers competed Sunday in the Hartington Open Golf Tournament.

Ken Kneifl of Hartington fired a 36-37-37 for a 27-hole total of 110 to win the trophy in the championship flight.

Neil Kluver of Randolph was second with scores of 40-36- 36 for a 112. Jarl Carlson of Coleridge shot a 79 over 18 holes to win the first flight.

HARTINGTON —The Hartington Braves, runner-up in last year’s South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament, had little trouble advancing their record to 3-0 this week with wins over the Yankton Jacks and Yankton Lakers.

Wednesday night, the Braves unloaded 15 hits against the Jacks to win in seven innings, 19-3.

HARTINGTON — Under the lights-Local baseball teams are the first to enjoy new lighting, which was installed at Felber Park this month.

The new lights were purchased by the city and installed at a cost of $36,000. Volunteers helped with the project, including high school students, and volunteers from Nebraska Public Power.
