1963: Heithold, Benson buy local blacksmith shop

COLERIDGE — Mrs. Seth Anderson, Robert Anderson, Karen Johns and Mrs. Elroy Hefner spent Monday in Lincoln where Mrs.

Anderson and Mrs. Hefner attended a Junior Lutheran Leaders Training meeting at the American Lutheran Church there.

COLERIDGE — Mr. and Mrs.

Elmer Nelson and their daughter Linda returned last Tuesday after visiting Art Havekost and his family in Mazon, Ill., and Mr. Ralph Nelson and his family in Lansing, Ill.

COLERIDGE — On Monday afternoon, Dean Wilkerson collided with a car driven by Karen Wiebelhaus about two and a half miles north of the Laurel weigh station as it was turning north out of their farm lane. Neither occupant was badly injured.

COLERIDGE — Mr. and Mrs.

Harold Hansen and their sons, Randy and Ricky, returned home last Friday evening after spending almost a week in North Dakota and Canada. They visited Don Parnell in Hamilton, N.D., and Art Lodoen home in Westhope, N.D. They also toured Winnipeg, Canada and the International Peace Gardens.

COLERIDGE — Gene’s Blacksmith Shop, was sold to Richard Heithold and Dean Benson last week. Gene Lich, the now former owner, had the business for more than 20 years.

COLERIDGE — Waldine Krei was the recipient of a certificate of merit for outstanding endeavor in the field of amateur sports. The winner was selected by the Sports Department of WOW radio.

COLERIDGE — The downtown has lost one of its original buildings. The building located half a block north of the Congregational Church was used as a blacksmith shop for many years before being converted into a garage. This building has now been torn down.

Aug. 16, 1973

COLERIDGE — Jeanie Milander of the Betwixt and Between 4-H Club was the Grand Champion in the Senior Division at the Cedar County Fair last week. She will go to the State Fair as the Advanced Unit Representative.

Aug. 17, 1973

COLERIDGE — Coleridge was presented the runner-up trophy following the final game of the Class B Tournament on Sunday evening.
