1960: Atkinson man purchases local funeral home

HARTINGTON — Blair Richendifer has purchased the Smith Funeral Home in Hartington and Coleridge effective Feb. 1.

Mr. Richendifer, formerly of Atkinson, was associated with the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. The Richendifers have three children, two daughters, Vicky Linn and Paula, and a son, Martin. The business will be known as the Smith-Richendifer Funeral Home.

Feb. 25, 1960

COLERIDGE — A Coleridge lady, Mrs. Jessie Pauline Hunter, has been nominated for “Nebraska Mother of the Year, 1960”.

She is sponsored by three organizations, the American Legion Auxiliary, Arts and Crafts Club and the Women’s Study Club. Widowed in 1941 by the death of her husband, Loran D. Hunter, the couple has seven children.

Feb. 18, 1970

HARTINGTON— Tom Tideman has transferred his talent from farming to insurance sales, and since the first of the year, has been associated with the Rossiter-Wirth Agency, Currently he is enjoying intensive training under tutelage of other members of the firm. He has chosen to represent the American National Insurance Co. of Galveston Texas the 17th largest life, health and accident insurance firm in the U.S., and a company that is showing a dramatic increase in its sales due to leadership in these fields.
