COLERIDGE — George “Silent” Stone has been inducted into the Lincoln Star Journal’s Nebraska Hall of Fame. Stone was American League batting champion in 1906 and had many other accomplishments in his Major League career.

HARTINGTON — Phil Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Robinson, Hartington, left Wednesday for Edinburgh where he will attend school.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Wildcats football team shutout Creighton 32-0 Friday night. Don Koel caught four touchdown passes. The Wildcats had 338 yards of total offense while Creighton tallied 158 yards.

HARTINGTON — Congressman Robert Harrison, who is seeking reelection for Nebraska’s Third Congressional District, will visit Cedar County and the surrounding towns Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. He will stop in Coleridge, Laurel, Belden, and Randolph.

HARTINGTON — The Holy Trinity football team finally got their offense going in the second half and picked up a 13-0 victory over Randolph last Friday night. Dean Meyer and Hausman each had a running touchdown for the Trojans.

HARTINGTON — Hartington residents overwhelmingly approved a $30,000 bond for the building of a new fire station. In the north ward the count was 162-38. In the south ward, the final tally was 115-25.

HARTINGTON — Marjorie Short, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dale Dooley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Dooley, Hartington, were married Sept. 21 at a Methodist church in Des Moines. The couple will reside in Denver, Colo.

HARTINGTON — Hartington Public broke a 19-game losing streak when they edged out the Coleridge Bulldogs 7-6 last Friday night. The Wildcats only racked up a total of 133 yards while the Bulldogs had 179 yards.

HARTINGTON — Donna Schrempp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Schrempp, Hartington, was promoted to captain at the 130th Station Hospital near Heidelberg in Germany.

Schrempp entered the Army Medical Specialist Corps in Aug. 1959. She arrived in Germany last July.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar County News installed a new high speed electronic engraver machine last week. The machine, known as the Photo-Lathe Automated Engraver, scans original photos then cuts the scanned image onto a metal plate attached to a second cylinder.

HARTINGTON — A fire completely destroyed a farm home owned by John Olsen, Hartington. Residents of the home, Mrs. Dean Olsen and her six children were in Omaha for the weekend at the time.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic Trojans won a close game against Randolph last Friday night, 7-6. Cedar Catholic netted 218 total rushing yards while the Cardinals had 81 yards.

COLERIDGE — Cedar Catholic shut out the Coleridge Bulldog football team 19-0 last Friday night. Coleridge was limited to just 82 rushing yards and 66 passing yards.
