1923: Cedar County student record perfect school attendance

HARTINGTON — Attorney F.C. Radke, former local man, now located at Tecumseh, has been appointed as the private secretary to Nebraska Governor Charles W. Bryan, announcement of the appointment being made at the State Capitol last week.
Mr. Radke is a Cedar County product.
He represented this county in the state legislature and also in the Constitutional Convention. He was an officer during the World War and has been active in Legion affairs since that time. He moved to Tecumseh about two years ago.

HARTINGTON - The Tri-State Utilities Company, which supplies electric light, heat and power to Hartington, Wausa, Bloomfield, Creighton, Magnet and Winnetoon, has been purchased by the W.D. Foshay Co. of Minneapolis. The company also supplied electricity to towns in South Dakota and Iowa and claimed to operate over 1,100 miles of transmission lines.
The Foshay Company has owned the plant at Ponca for quite some time. It is the company which contracted to build the transmission line from Sioux Falls, S.D. to Hartington to supply Sri-State Company lines.
This line is expected to be completed in a short time.

HARTINGTON - George Reifert of Hartington, Leonard Reifert of Crofton and Ferdinand Solso of Laurel attended the annual convention of the Nebraska State Funeral Director’s Association in Omaha. A very comprehensive program was enjoyed by all.

HARTINGTON - Diplomas of honor have been issued to 109 pupils in the schools of Cedar County for having had perfect attendance records during the past year.
The record, which has been made in this respect this year, is a very fine one and speaks well of the interest which is being taken in the schools by parents and pupils.
The Magnet schools took the honor of having the most pupils with perfect records, as there were 25 from that one school. District 105 was next with 12 perfect records, while District 108 had 11.
Twenty-nine schools reported at least one pupil with perfect attendance.
