Bringing in the harvest An area farmer hit the field Sunday to chop corn and fill a wagon with silage in a field south of Hartington as fall harvest gets underway. Recent rains have improved soil moisture but slowed fieldwork across Nebraska, leaving producers with 4.2 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sept. 20. Statewide, corn harvest was 7 percent complete and soybean harvest was 3 percent complete, both behind their five-year averages, according to Nebraska Extension’s CropWatch.
