Laurel VFW Auxiliary holds May meeting

LAUREL – The Laurel VFW Auxiliary Post 4504, held a meeting May 3.

LAUREL — The Laurel VFW Auxiliary Post 4504, held a meeting May 3.

The meeting was called to order with seven members present.

Claire Leger presented Jean Grandquist with the prizes for the coloring contest earlier in the week. Jean will now present them to the students.

Three seniors from Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School were selected to receive $150 scholarships each. The winners were Berniece McCorkindale, Aaron Bloom and Rachel Ebmeier.

The auxiliary agreed to help the Legion with brownies and macaroni salad for the Memorial Day dinner.

Kathy Bradford represented the auxiliary with placing a wreath at the Community Center Program and Cemetery in honor of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day.

The Auxiliary put a request into the Legion to hang a bulletin board in their building with information on upcoming activities.

Suggestions were made about plans to make signs of all military branches to hang outside the cemetery.

The next Auxiliary meeting will be held at the VFW Post on July 12, at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in the organization is welcome to attend.
