HARTINGTON - If you haven’t noticed, the Hartington Post 4 American Legion Junior and Senior baseball teams have added to their moniker, adding “Buzzards” to the official title.
“We needed new white uniforms and the guys have been begging for new white jerseys for years,” said Post 4 skipper Don Whitmire. “We just got them in and they have our new logo on them.”
The logo includes a buzzard holding a baseball bat after hitting a ball in flight.
“That idea came from one of my assistants, Cale Haberer,” said Whitmire. “He came up with the logo and the idea from all of the buzzards flying around the ball park all the time that roost in our trees around the field.” Whitmire and company retired the old white jerseys and thanks to Security Bank, the group can now proudly display their new attire.
“We’re going to break them in this week when we play Hooper/Scribner,” the coach said. “The guys are pretty excited.”
Hartington American Legion Post 4 Buzzards, has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
