HARTINGTON — Holy Trinity Catholic parish of Hartington will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding at special ceremonies here Tuesday, June 13. Most Rev. Gerald T. Bergan, D.D., Archbishop of Omaha, will preside at a Diamond Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving, which will open the day’s activities at 10:30 a.m.
Three youth of the parish who became priests and several former assistant pastors here will have special parts in the day’s program, which will conclude with a parish dinner and reception in the afternoon.
Father Jude Burbach, O.S.B., of St. Mary’s Purcell, Huron, Kans., son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burbach, will be deacon of the mass, which will be celebrated by Father Raymond Auer, pastor.
Father Gerald Burbach of Elgin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Burbach, will be sub-deacon, and Father Norbert Boland of Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boland, will give the jubilee sermon.
Former assistant pastors participating in the jubilee mass are Father Otto Zillig, Menominee, assistant priest; Father Otto Buehler, Randolph, and Father Ernest Halemba, St. Helena, deacons of honor; and Father Conrad Kaup, Fordyce, master of ceremonies.
Monsignor Daniel Sheehan of Omaha will also be master of ceremonies. Sister M. Clara, O.S.B., will direct the choir.

HARTINGTON — Seven out of 10 county towns showed an increase in the assessed valuation of personal property over last year, according to a tabulation of figures from the oce of County Assessor Deward Erickson.
Only three towns had an increase in business property valuations. Hartington and St. Helena were the only towns in Cedar County where the assessed valuation of both business and personal property dropped from last year.

MENOMINEE - Father Timothy J. Lange oered his first solemn mass at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee May 29, with a large group of relatives and friends attending. A procession of 25 priests, followed by Father Tim's nieces, Mary Jonas and Ann Cardwell, who acted as flower girls, led the newly ordained celebrant to the altar.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington area received over 3.5 inches of rain during May.
A tabulation of precipitation here the past month showed that 3.52 inches of moisture fell in Hartington. The heaviest precipitation was recorded May 13 when .87 of an inch of rain blanketed the area.
