IRENE - The Wynot Expos split a pair of South Central League games over the past week defeating the Irene Cardinals 11-5 on the road June 7 after dropping a home date with the Yankton Lakers 17-6 June 4.
In the win over the Cardinals, Wynot sprinted out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first frame then went up 5-2 after two and 6-1 at the end of the third.
The teams matched runs with each scoring two in the fourth but the Expos plated three in the sixth and seventh innings go in front 11-3.
The Cardinals would score two in their final at bat but Wynot closed out the game by the 11-5 final score.
Devin Lammers smacked a pair of home runs on the evening while Jalen Wieseler and Lee Heimes each rifled a double.
Jackson Sudbeck picked up the win scattering 10 hits over six innings of work, walking one and striking out five.
The Expos got out to an early lead against the Lakers leading 2-0 after one and 3-2 after two but Yankton would score 14 runs in the final four innings to put the game out of reach.
Wynot will return to the field June 11 when the Expos travel to Tabor and will host Crofton June 21 in Wynot.
