RANDOLPH —Daniel Rossbach received a Master of Divinity degree on May 17 at Wartburg Seminary at Dubuque, Iowa.
The son of the late Rev. Walter Rossbach and Mrs. Darlene Rossbach, Dan interned one year as the hospital chaplain in Illinois. His father, grandfather and a brother, David, also attended Wartburg Seminary.

RANDOLPH —Marvin Beardshear was presented the “Teacher of the Year” award as the 1990-91 recipient.
This year he taught students in chemistry, physics and physical science areas. Attending the presentation were Kim Romohr, last year’s recipient, and Jim Rasmussen, REA president.

RANDOLPH —Janine Van Slyke presented the winning entry of the Voice of Democracy Contest sponsored by the VFW Post 5545 Auxiliary at the Memorial Day program on Monday. The winner was awarded a $50 Savings Bond for her effort from the Post and Auxiliary.

RANDOLPH —Chapter EA, P.E.O. met Monday evening, May 21 at the home of Mrs. Lyle Nannen. Twentyfour members answered roll call. The program “The Sights and Sounds of Nebraska, The Sound of Music,” was presented by Mrs. Russ Jensen, Mrs. Robert Sellon and Mrs. Wm. Norvell.

RANDOLPH —Nine members of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5545 met Wednesday evening at the Randolph Senior Center. Darlene Bermel, president, presided at the meeting. Valerie Wilkinson and her daughter of Fort Dodge, Iowa were guests.

LINCOLN — Of Nebraska’s 93 counties, Cedar County was hit hardest during the 2001 Legislative session. Gov. Mike Johanns approved a plan for adjusting Nebraska’s 49 Legislative Districts and redrawing the lines of Nebraska’s three congressional districts.

HARTINGTON — A 19-year-old woman pleaded innocent to making terroristic threats in a bomb threat here in mid-May.
Jackie Lammers of Hartington also pleaded innocent in Cedar County District Court to criminal mischief and to felony charges of issuing bad checks. A trial was set for Sept. 26.

RANDOLPH — A proclamation for the Q125 celebration was presented by Mayor Dwayne Schutt at the regular city council meeting June 1.
Also at the meeting, the council voted to approve a change order for Janssen Construction regarding the demolition project for the old library.
For an additional cost of $4,650, Janssen Construction will be responsible for all landscaping, sod and replacement of sidewalks to be completed by June 24, in time for the Q125 events.
John Huff, city water superintendent, spoke to the council about the water control system that was discussed the previous month.
TMS (Technical Maintenance and Service) of Lincoln had previously submitted a bid for a new control system for the water tower, wells, and pumps, which Huff explained was badly needed.
