LAUREL - Sandra Ebmeier and Janet Urwiler will attend the All-State high school course at the University of Nebraska June 12-30.
John Moran, associate professor of music and director of All-State, said more than 450 high school students from 137 Nebraska communities will attend classes and laboratories in art, journalism, speech and music.
Sandra is going to take art and Janet will enroll in music.

LAUREL - Keith and Kendell Kardell graduated with master of arts degrees in mathematics on May 29 at Colorado State college, Greeley, Colo.

LAUREL - Mr. and Mrs. J. D. (Dutch) Urwiler will leave Laurel Friday, for the Grand Bahama Island for an expense-paid vacation for two.
Mr. Urwiler, owner of Urwiler Implement, was awarded this trip by the International Harvester Company for “recognition of his record achievement in a recent retail tractor, baler and related equipment sales campaign called ‘Lead the Leaders’.”
The Urwilers will vacation at the Grand Bahama hotel and country club in the West End Village of Grand Bahama Island, where they may take advantage of native cuisine, golfing, fishing, tennis, bowling and stroll the shops which offer imported goods.

LAUREL - Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lawrence, owners of the Heron Lake News at Heron Lake, Minn., the past 22 years, this week purchased the Brewster Tribune.
The Lawrences are former Laurel residents. Mrs. Lawrence is the former Persa Ross, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ross.

LAUREL - Owen Gadeken, son of Mrs. Gertrude Gadeken, was named valedictorian at commencement exercises last Thursday evening at the Laurel school auditorium.
Dale Michels, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Michels, was salutatorian.
Owen and Dale, in addition to Susan Ebmeier, received University of Nebraska Regents Scholarship awards.
Wayne State college scholarships went to Jerry Martindale and Vicky Smith. Debby Anderson received a scholarship to the Minneapolis, Minn., Medical school.
The American Legion awards were presented to Connie Krie, music, and John Deyloff, sports, and Cam Sutton and Arliss Dirks, outstanding citizenship, by Commander Boyd Sutton.
Susan Ebmeier is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Ebmeier; Jerry Martindale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Martindale; Vicky Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Smith; Debby Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Anderson; Connie Krie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Krie; John Deyloff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Deyloff; Cam Sutton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Sutton; Arliss Dirks, daughter of Mrs. Phyllis Dirks.
The C. D. Haskell Memorial Award went to faculty member Mrs. Elizabeth Finn.
Marleen Miller, third in the graduating class, was presented a $50.00 scholarship to the college of her choice by Governor Frank B. Morrison. This was the $50.00 the governor was to have received for making the commencement address. Marleen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miller.

COLERIDGE - Coleridge split a pair of ball games this past week as they dropped a close contest to Orchard Thursday evening by a score of 3 to 1 and then won 16 to 7 from Plainview Sunday night.
Kendall Smith went the distance against Orchard in a losing effort but lost the game on unearned runs. Sylvan Olsen scored the only Coleridge run in the opening inning and never seriously threatened to score against Heese and Mitties.
