GOTHENBURG — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge’s Foster Stone stepped into one of the biggest junior high track meets in Nebraska and came home with a pair of top-10 finishes.

Stone qualified for the Nebraska Championship Meet, commonly known as the State Junior High Track Meet, which is held each year in Gothenburg and brings together the top seventh-and eighth-grade athletes from across the state.

The all-class meet is held the Saturday before the Nebraska high school state track meet and features the state’s top junior high competitors, with athletes qualifying based on marks listed through Athletic.net.

Stone made the most of his opportunity in Gothenburg, earning third place in the shot put with a new personal-best throw of 49 feet, 3.5 inches.

He also placed seventh in the discus, giving LCC two medal-winning performances at the statewide meet.

The Nebraska Championship Meet is not divided into school classifications, making Stone’s performance stand out even more as he competed against many of the top junior high throwers in Nebraska.
