RANDOLPH -About 100 flower barrels have been placed in the downtown area of Randolph under the sponsorship of the Randolph Community Club.
Roger Johnson, chairman of the project said about 100 half whiskey barrels were purchased by the club, and resold to businesses and others at a cost of $15 each which included the flowers that will be planted.
The planters were delivered on Thursday of last week, and it is expected that the flowers will be planted by the middle of this week.

RANDOLPH - Kirby Meyer represented Randolph High School at the State Track Meet in Omaha over the weekend when he participated in the 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles.
Meyer qualified for the finals in the event when he ran in a time of :41.47 in the preliminaries Friday, but did not win a medal in statewide competition. Meyer’s time was a new Randolph High School record.
The Randolph High track team participated in the District Meet on May 14 at Plainview where they scored 16 points, placing 13th out of 16 schools. Reggie Arduser placed fourth in the high jump at a height of 5’11”. Chuck Gubbels placed sixth in the shotput with a toss of 43’1” and the 400 Meter Relay team and the 1600 Meter Relay team both placed sixth.
The 400 Meter team was made up by Glen Morrison, Jeff Lackas, Darcy Speer and Kirby Meyer while the 1600 Meter team was made up with Jeff Lackas, Jim Scott, Darcy Speer and Kirby Meyer. Times for the two relay teams were :48.8 and 3:49.6.

RANDOLPH The new gym at the high school was the site for a Spring Piano Recital presented by 33 Randolph youth. Participating in the May 15 concert were students of Linda Rogers. Each person performed at least one solo and was part of a duet or ensemble team.
Students included Jenny, Brenda and David Arens, Aaron Billerbeck, Levi Borst, Karissa Dominisse, Sarah Dowling, Casey Gubbels, Nick Gubbels, Stephanie and Jenny Gubbels, Laura Hansen, Lisa Haselhorst, Tiffany Kruse, Kurtis Leiting, Nick Lindemoen, Emily Loberg, Amanda Milander, Jessica Monahan, Jenny and Andy Morten, Keisha Patent, Elizabeth Rogers, Melissa and Jennifer Romohr, James Svitak, Christine Troshynski, Elizabeth Tunink, Jordan Tunink, Kerrie Winkelbauer, Courtney Wrick and Traci and Travis Wobbenhorst. This was a first recital experience for James Svitak and Travis Wobbenhorst.

RANDOLPH — Jean Gerkins, employee of Randolph Family Practice/ Osmond Hospital, was recently presented flowers in honor of her 80th birthday. Co-workers of Jean’s are Dr. David Mwebe, Carolyn Lackas, Cindy Billerbeck, Barb Burbach, Sherri Bargstadt and Kelly Thelen.
