Cardinal golfers end the season at district meet

BEEMER — The Randolph golf team saw its season come to an end May 18 at Indian Trails Country Club south of Beemer during the D-2 District Golf Tournament.

The Cardinals finished eighth in the team standings with a 392.

Creighton won the district title with a 346, while Lutheran High Northeast earned runner-up honors with a 359. Plainview claimed the third and final team qualifying spot for the Class D Nebraska Golf Championships with a 368.

The top three teams, along with the top 10 individuals and ties, qualified for this week’s state tournament at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.

Keldon Loecker of Bloomfield won the individual title after surviving a playoff. Loecker, Cole Lawless of Lutheran High Northeast and Dayne Jakub of Aquinas Catholic all finished regulation play with rounds of 80.

Lawless finished second, while Jakub placed third.

Ryan Engel turned in the low round for the Cardinals, carding a 91 to finish 18th overall.

Talyn Meyer followed with a 97, while Bentley Reimers shot a 98. Tate Brodersen finished with a 106, and Bentley Bonczyski added a 109 for the Cardinals.
