OMAHA - Three Wynot track athletes headed south for Omaha May 22-23 to compete in the Class D Nebraska State Track Meet at Burke Stadium.
Two of the athletes were boys and two-thirds of the athletes were Heimes’. Lane Heimes qualified in the high jump and he wound up 14th in the event after clearing the bar at 5-feet-11-inches.
Braylon Hans was the other Blue Devil to compete at state and he was in the long jump.
Hans hit the sand after sailing 19-10 which put him in 11th place in the field. Maleah Heimes was the lone Lady Blue Devil competing at Burke Stadium and used a jump of 5-01 in the high jump to finish ninth but was thesame height as the fourth-place medalist cleared, but she ended up out of the hardware by misses at the lower heights.
Dundy County-Stratton won the boy’s division in Class D with 75 points, Anselmo-Merna was runner-up with 52. The Tigers also ran away with the girls’ title with 70 points with Wausa coming in second with 49.
