HARTINGTON - The Hartington-Newcastle track teams had six athletes extend their season in the C-4 District Track and Field Meet held at the Hartington Community Athletic Complex May 14.
The Wildcats had four athletes qualify while the Lady ‘Cats had two make it in three events.
Will Feilmeier is heading to Omaha in the 100-meter dash after placing second in the district meet with a time of 11.18 seconds.
Brayden Lammers got over the bar at 6-02 in the high jump to grab a ticket to Omaha May 22 and 23 when Classes C and D take center stage on Burke Stadium track.
Maximus McCray used a 42-11 effort in the triple jump in the dis trict to get himself an invitation to the big show.
Ty Opfer got himself over the pole vault bar at 12-02 to qualify. Vayda Lippert will be competing in two events when she arrives in Omaha.
Lippert won the 800-meter run in the C-4 District Meet using a time of 2-22.10 and placed second to Ava Brennan of Ponca in the 1,600, circling the track four times in 5:38.20 to earn a spot in that event over the weekend.
Ella Eickhoff qualified in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 8-02 at districts.
The Wildcats posted 72 points in the district to place third. Cedar Catholic won the meet with 152 points, while Wakefield was second with 83.
The Lady Wildcats scored 36 points in the district meet to place sixth. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the girls’ division with 117 points, Pender was second with 96, Ponca and Cedar Catholic were tied for third with 86.
The Nebraska Track and Field Championships are set for May 20-23 with Classes C and D competing on May 22 and 23.
