RANDOLPH - Fred M. Pokorney, head of the Howells public school system the last two years, is the new superintendent of Randolph public schools. He succeeds Orwin L. White, who was superintendent here for five years.
Mr. Pokorney has had many years teaching experience in Nebraska and has been superintendent of schools at Yutan, Litchfield, Vesta, and Ravenna in addition to Howells. Mr. and Mrs. Pokorney have one daughter, who is married.
The new superintendent was graduated from Ravenna high school and from the University of Nebraska and obtained his master’s degree at the University of Omaha. He is a member of the American Legion, Masonic lodge and National Geographical society.
Miss Eva May Plummer has signed a contract to return.

RANDOLPH - Gordon Chapman presented his resignation from the Randolph school board at the May meeting of the board Monday evening. He stated he and his family are moving from Randolph in the near future. No action was taken by the board at this meeting to name a successor.
Annual election of officers was held and Roy Gibson was re-elected president; Harold Bush was named vice president. Marvin Weber and Gordon Dennis, elected to the board in April, were installed as new members.

RANDOLPH - Carroll high school graduated 10 seniors Tuesday evening at commencement exercises. M. Kantor is superintendent of Carroll schools.
F. B. Decker, state commissioner of education, was commencement speaker.
Baccalaureate services were Sunday evening. Rev. James Griffes gave the class sermon. Rev. Van Meter gave the invocation and benediction.
Members of the class are Maxine Brudigan, Marvin Eckert, Delwin Granfield, Dennis Hansen, Lois Landanger, Duane Johnson, Lynn Jones, Don Volwiller, Donna Wittler and Lowell Olsen.

RANDOLPH - Kenneth Burgel, who had a severe case of the chicken pox, was assisted with his spring field work when farmers came with nine tractors and plows and plowed 80 acres Thursday.
Those who helped included Floyd Miller, Alvin Roth, Kermit Graf, LeRoy Bring, Hazen Boling, Donald Arduser, Carl Bring, Chris Meier, Clarence Remington and Richard Remington. Wives of several of the men helped with the lunch.

RANDOLPH - Ronnie Gates, operator of Ronnie’s Television, has announced that he has purchased the business of Walton Bros. T.V.
Mr. Gates has moved his business to the building formerly occupied by the Walton firm.

BELDEN - Commencement exercises will be held at the Belden School Auditorium for 5 seniors.
Class Valedictorian is Patricia Bring and the Salutatorian is Sharon Smith. Both will give addresses at the program. F. W. Vorce, Jr., will be the main speaker for the commencement, his address to be entitled “All Things Are Yours.”
Graduating seniors of the Belden high school are Patricia Bring, Robert Loeb, Willard Hart, Sharon L. C. Smith and Ronald Stapelman.
Eighth grade diplomas will be presented to a class of nine. Members of the class are William G. Behrens, James M. Delozier, Larry D. Gubbels, Terry L. Graf, Mary J. Harper, Roger S. Leapley, Patricia A. McLain, David F. Miller and Gary L. Stapelman.
