NORFOLK — The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcat and Lady Wildcat track teams prepared for this week’s district meet competing in the Norfolk Catholic Invitational May 7 in Norfolk.
The Wildcats placed seventh in the team standings after posting 53 points for the day while the Lady ‘Cats also placing seventh with 25 points, O’Neill swept the team championships with the Eagles outlasting Norfolk Catholic
86-82 and the Lady Eagles scoring four more points than the Lady Knights.
Will Feilmeier brought home the lone gold medal for the boys after winning the
100-meter sprint in 11.05 seconds.
Mason Krause had a good day placing in a couple of individual events, taking second in the 400 in 54.42 seconds and placing fourth in the high jump.
Maximus McCray scored points in two events placing fourth in the 200 and fifth in the triple jump, Brayden Lammers was second in the high jump and Issac Santiago was fifth in the 1,600-meter run.
Lammers cleared 6-feet for his silver medal in the high jump, Ty Opfer and Jason Heimes were third and fourth in the pole vault respectively.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Santiago, Gabe Sovereign, Lammers and Aidan Anderson placed fourth and the 1,600 team of Sovereign, Scout Heimes, Lammers and Nathan Heimes came in sixth.
Vayda Lippert led the Lady Wildcats winning the 800-meters in 2:26.26 and placing second in the 400 in 1:01.86.
Ella Eickhoff was third in the pole vault. The Lady Wildcat 400-meter relay squad of Lainey Morten, Nora Lange, Kloe Fischer and Jade Ford circles the track in 55.20 seconds to place sixth.
The ‘Cats and Lady ‘Cats will return to the track May 14 when they will host the C-4 District Meet at the Hartington Community Athletic Complex.
