BATTLE CREEK - The Cedar Catholic golf team traveled to Battle Creek May 7 for the Battle Creek Invitational and came away with the runner-up trophy.
The Braves took advantage of their home turf and outlasted Cedar by two strokes, 312 to 314.
Norfolk Catholic was third at 316 which makes next week’s district tournament intriguing as all three teams will meet in the C-3 District Golf Championships on May 18 at Fairplay Golf Course outside of Norfolk.
Will Brockhaus of Norfolk Catholic won medalist honors after firing a 70 with Cedar's Memphis Ulrich right on his heels at 73.
Toby Heine was fourth with a 76 for the Trojans while Mav Heine and Landyn Keiser were 14th and 15th respectively after posting 82 and 83.
Langston Christiansen was just one shot back as Cedar appears to be playing its best golf at the right time.
