LAUREL - The Wynot Blue Devil and Lady Blue Devil track teams competed in the Jim Winch (Winside) Track and Field Invitational at Haskell Field in Laurel May 7 and the Blue Devils posted 49 points and the Lady Blue Devils scored 24.
Wausa won the boys’ championship with 108 points with Laurel-Concord- Coleridge second with 85 while the Lady Bears took the crown in the girls’ division running away from Wausa 164-77.
The Blue Devils earned gold medals in the 1,600 relay and one from Braylon Hans in the long jump with a best of 19-08.
Hans went on to take second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.59 seconds.
Lane Heimes was second in the high jump after clearing the bar at 6-0.
Heimes also placed fifth in the 400.
Trey Gowery was sixth in the 3,200 and Wyatt Nelson brought home a third in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the triple jump.
The 1,600-meter quartet of Hans, Nelson, Kreyton Koch and Heimes circled the track four times in 3:50.18 for gold.
Tiara Sudbeck placed second in the long jump with a best of 14-09.50 to pace the Lady Blue Devils. She also placed fourth in the 400-meters.
Addison Sharpe placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:32.96 while Maleah Heimes placed third in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5-01.
Both teams will travel to Hartington May 13 for the district track and
