Trojans dial in at Pierce, claim team title behind Ulrich’s medalist round

PIERCE — The Cedar Catholic Trojans turned in one of their most complete rounds of the spring here, putting four golfers in the top 21 and pulling away from the field to win the Pierce Invitational team title.

Cedar Catholic finished with a 319, comfortably ahead of runnerup Elkhorn Valley (338) and Bloomfield (344), while holding off a tightly packed middle of the leaderboard that saw just 16 strokes separate second through sixth place.

The day belonged to Cedar’s Memphis Ulrich, who captured individual medalist honors with a sharp 74. Ulrich set the tone early and never let up, navigating the course with consistency to lead the Trojans from the front.

He wasn’t alone. Toby Heine delivered a strong round of 79 to place fifth overall, while Mav Heine followed closely with an 80 to finish sixth, giving Cedar three golfers inside the top six — a decisive edge in the team standings.

That depth proved to be the difference.

Langston Christensen added an 86 (17th), and Landyn Kaiser carded an 87 (21st) to round out Cedar’s scoring, sealing a balanced team effort that separated the Trojans from the pack.

Behind Cedar Catholic, Elkhorn Valley placed second at 338, followed by Bloomfield (344), Plainview (345) and Clarkson/ Leigh (349). Randolph and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge each posted 360, while Hartington-Newcastle finished 11th with a 384.

For Cedar Catholic, the formula was simple — a medalist at the top, three players near the front, and no wasted strokes in the scoring lineup.

Put it together, and it added up to another trophy for the Trojans.
