Wynot tracksters finish fifth in L&C meet
CREIGHTON - The Wynot Blue Devil and Lady Blue Devil track teams traveled to Creighton May for the Lewis & Clark Conference Track and Field Championships.
The Blue Devils ended up fifth in the team standings after posting 42 points.
Bloomfield won the title with 109 points, Wausa was second with 95 and Creighton was third with 74.
Homer won the title in the girls’ competition with 89 points, Wausa and Bloomfield were tied for second with 80.
The Lady Blue Devils scored 18 points to wind up eighth.
Braylon Hans had a good day on the track and in the pits as he won the long jump with a best of 18-09.5 and placed second in the 100-meters with a time of 12-seconds flat.
Lane Heimes was second in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5-11 and Wyatt Nelson placed third in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Kreyton Koch placed fifth behind Hans in the long jump.
The Wynot 1,600 relay team of Heimes, Koch, Hans and Nelson covered the distance in 3:51.78 to place second.
The Lady Blue Devils got a third place finish from Addison Sharpe in the 800-meter run in 2:37.09.
Tiara Sudbeck earned a couple of fourth-place finishes, one in the 400 with a time of 1:03.29 and fourth in the long jump hitting the sand after 14-02.
Maleah Heimes placed fourth in the high jump clearing the bar at 4-11.
Both teams will return to the track in the Jim Winch Winside Invitational which will be held in Laurel May 7.
