LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls track team continued its dominant spring, capturing its sixth straight invitational title with a commanding 155-point performance at the Ponca Invitational.
The Bears left little doubt, outdistancing runner-up Tri County Northeast (99.5) behind a balanced, meetlong effort that showcased their depth from sprints to distance to relays.
Tae Settje again proved to be one of the area’s top all-around athletes, winning the 200-meter dash (26.81) and 400 (1:01.82), and running a key leg on LCC’s winning 1,600-meter relay (4:24.07) with Boston Brown, Kate Tasler and Carlie Kvols.
Brown turned in a huge day as well, sweeping both hurdle races — 100 hurdles (15.87) and 300 hurdles (49.88) — and adding another gold in the triple jump (35-1.5) to anchor the Bears’ point total.
LCC’s distance crew controlled the meet. Faith Galvin won the 3,200 (12:58.94), while Justice Olson took the 1,600 title (6:02.21) and added points in the 800. Olson also teamed with Galvin, Leah Gould and Kvols to place second in the 3,200 relay (10:21.70). Gould finished runner-up in the 3,200 (13:11.48), highlighting the Bears’ depth.
Carlie Kvols added a second-place finish in the 800 (2:35.23), and Grace Galvin chipped in with a runner-up effort in the long jump (15-5), as LCC piled up points across nearly every event.
The Bears carried that momentum into their home Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invitational, where they again finished on top with 96 points, edging Yutan (92) for the team title.
Kvols claimed the 800 (2:26.74), Faith Galvin won the 1,600 (5:39.54), and Brown continued her dominance in the field with a triple jump title (35-0.5). The 1,600 relay team of Brown, Tasler, Kvols and Settje remained unbeaten, winning in 4:11.65.
Through six invitationals, the Bears have shown a consistent formula for success — elite performances from their top-end athletes, depth in the distance events and reliable relay teams — a combination that continues to make LCC one of the area’s most complete squads.
