RANDOLPH — The Board of Education accepted the resignations of Jim Bollacker, Eva May Strathman, Diane Ehrhardt, Pam Olson and Ann Johnson.
At the same meeting the Board approved the hiring of Lyle Nannen, who will serve as basketball coach, athletic director and as an instructor; Lloyd Lanik, as High School Principal; Mrs. Lanik, will teach a section of 6th grade; Sallie Bergt, vocal music; Marcia Nelson, a section of 6th grade; and Phyllis Thieman, a section of third grade.

RANDOLPH — Patricia Tunink, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Tunink of Belden, was named to the honor roll in her school in Omaha.
Miss Tunink graduated from Randolph High School in 1970.

RANDOLPH — Sp4 Daniel Viergutz arrived in Omaha on Friday from Vietnam and is spending a leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Viergutz.
He will return to Vietnam on Monday to complete his two-year tour of duty.

RANDOLPH - Liturgy of Thanksgiving on Sunday afternoon, April 25 and open house in the church hall will dedicate the addition and remodeling of the church and rectory at St. Frances church.

RANDOLPH - A plowing bee was held on Wednesday at the farm residence of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Stevens at which time 29 tractors and plows were used to plow 175 acres.
Connie Stevens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Stevens, has been hospitalized at a Sioux City hospital for several weeks following major surgery.

RANDOLPH - Midwest Bridge Co. of Norfolk was tentatively given a contract to pave 24½ blocks in Randolph on Monday evening at a special meeting of the Randolph City Council. The bid by Midwest Bridge was for a total of $270,863.80.

Ernest Witte observed their 35th wedding anniversary on Friday when their family planned a social evening for them in their new home in Randolph.

RANDOLPH - Winners of a Centennial Dress-up Day held at the Randolph East School were: Randy Korth, Gabe Hansen, Tony Lackas, Wayne Korth, Jason Wittler and Scott Gubbels, Brenda McDonald, Kristi Morten, Dawn Meier, Susie Lange, Amy Frederick and Tara Lindquist.
The next scheduled Centennial Dress-up Day for elementary students will be Friday, May 2.
A Spelling Bee will be held in conjunction with this Dress-up Day. Grades 3-6 will have their spelling bee in the East School Assembly.
West elementary students will compete in West School Lunchroom.

RANDOLPH - State Senator ElRoy Hefner introduced Legislative Resolution No. 492 during the recent session of the Nebraska Legislature pertaining to Randolph’s celebration of its 100th birthday.
According to information received by The Times the resolution was as follows: Whereas, on July 12, 1986 Randolph, Nebraska will celebrate its one-hundredth birthday; and Whereas, Randolph has been an outstanding community with outstanding citizens; and Whereas, a Centennial Celebration offers a unique opportunity to reflect upon those citizens whose efforts were responsible for the founding of the community and its continued vitality; and Whereas, the citizens of Randolph deserve special recognition for their Centennial Celebration.
Now, therefore be it resolved by the members of the eighty-ninth Legislature of Nebraska: 1. That the members of the Legislature recognize and commend the City of Randolph and its citizens for their Centennial Celebration.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Randolph.
