HARTINGTON — John A. Bargstadt, 59, a Cedar County Commissioner and long-time Hartington farmer was fatally injured in a tractor accident on the H.K. Burney farm.
The accident happened about 5:15 p.m. as Mr. Bargstadt was returning a borrowed spreader to the Burney farm. Mr. Bargstadt was making a left turn into the driveway of the Burney farm when he apparently fell or was thrown from the tractor. The tractor and spreader remained upright, going through a fence into a feed lot and stopping when it hit a feed bunk.
The spreader apparently ran over Mr. Bargstadt causing several chest and facial injuries. He was rushed to the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D. by ambulance, where he died at 6:45 p.m.

HARTINGTON — At the Cedar County School District reorganization meeting held at Randolph, April 14 the board approved at the following petitions in Cedar County: School District #91 to merge with school districts 45 (Randolph) and 41-R (Coleridge): School District No 55 to merge with School District #45 (Randolph); School District No 64 (Belden) to merge with School District #45 (Randolph) and School District #10 to merge with School District #101 Wynot.

HARTINGTON — According to word received here, Pfc. Gary Dean Ellison, has been hospitalized with a leg wound received while he was serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He had been dismissed from the hospital a short time before this after being a patient there for several gashes caused by barbed wire.
Pfc. is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schindeler of Hartington. He is the son of Edward Anderson, Alameda, Calif., formerly of Hartington.
